It's unfortunate that 'I Will Always Love You' will forever be tied in the public mind to Whitney Houston's repulsively overwrought cover from the soundtrack to The Bodyguard, at one time the largest-selling single in history. Houston's version is so boomingly bombastic and glutinous with self-approbation that the tenderness of Dolly Parton's song is lost in the mire.
